Beliefs and Values

WHAT WE BELIEVE

God

There is only one true God who is the eternal King, Creator, and Redeemer of all that is. He is perfectly holy, just, loving, and truthful. He has revealed Himself to be eternally self-existent, one being in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ, the one and only begotten Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is God’s Anointed One, empowered by the Holy Spirit to inaugurate God’s kingdom on Earth. He lived a sinless life, was crucified for our sins, died, was buried, resurrected, and ascended into Heaven. He is alive today at the right hand of God in Heaven and in His people through the Holy Spirit on Earth. He is fully God and fully man.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit indwells and empowers the Christian, enabling each Christ-follower to live a holy life and minister supernaturally. The baptism of the Holy Spirit and the filling of the Holy Spirit work together to equip believers to be bold witnesses for Christ in both word and deed. Other primary ministries of the Holy Spirit include teaching each believer directly, comforting them, revealing Jesus to and through them, and conforming them to the image of Christ.

Humans

Humankind was created in the image of God to know and enjoy Him, and was granted authority to rule over and subdue the whole Earth. Despite this relationship and commission, we willfully rejected the lordship and glory of God for which we were intended. In doing this, we handed authority over Earth to satan, who became god of this world until Jesus restored the created order through His sinless life, death, and resurrection. Sin, sickness, death and judgment entered the world because of our rebellion, and now creation experiences the effects and consequences of the human rebellion. These consequences can only be redeemed by submission to the Kingdom of God.

The Bible

The Bible is the only inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the filter through which we interpret anything God speaks to us directly through relationship and provides a foundation of truth and wisdom for all aspects of life and relationship with God.

Salvation

We are saved by grace, through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ alone, and not by any of our own good works or deeds. God wants all people to be restored to fellowship with Him through repenting, believing, and receiving Jesus as their Savior and Lord. We prove this faith and repentance through changes in how we live, as this is the natural outcome of walking with Jesus instead of wherever our will used to direct us before we knew Him.

The Church

The Church is the body of Christ and is made up of all those who have called on Jesus to be saved. The Church exists to fulfill God's original intent for humankind of being conformed to His image and to carry out the commissions of Jesus by:

  • advancing God’s Kingdom

  • destroying the works of the devil

  • preaching and living the good news of God’s love

  • baptizing and discipling the nations

  • proclaiming Jesus’ death, resurrection, and coming visible bodily return through the practice of communion

Final Things

We are in a time where God promises to reveal His goodness to every nation both directly and through His body. This advancing of His kingdom will continue increasing until the very end. He desires for His kindness to lead all to repentance, but many will reject Him and rebel against Him. He will ultimately give all humankind exactly what they choose --- existence with Him or existence without Him. Jesus will visibly return to claim His glorious bride (all those who received Him), and will separate the righteous unto eternal reward in Heaven and the lost unto eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire.

OUR VALUES

God’s Goodness

We unshakably believe that God is good. When Jesus died, He completely satisfied the wrath of God, making full provision for God’s goodness to be demonstrated in power to all humankind. This goodness leads people to change their minds about God, believing in Him and bringing salvation into their lives. This goodness also forms the way we view the world around us and the events that take place within it.

Family

Jesus came to reveal God as His Father and returned to Heaven so we could receive the Spirit of Adoption. Marriage is the image of Jesus’ relationship with His church and family expresses the way God governs Heaven and Earth. We truly believe that a single healthy family can transform the world, so we work to restore and equip families to grow into the potential God has for them.

All In

The Kingdom of God provides equal opportunity for everyone, but the Sunday expression of church cannot contain everything God does in and through His children. Therefore, we work to equip all believers with what they need to express God’s heart and work wherever they go, believing that most Christians’ callings will be fulfilled outside the church building. For this reason, we celebrate the diversity of God’s body in how it is expressed both within our local gathering and outside of it in the workplace.

Honor

Every individual is created as a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, called to be royal children of the Most High God with unique identities and callings, each one powerful enough to write history. We refuse to lower our view of any person below this standard, including ourselves, regardless of how they view themselves or how we are viewed by others. We believe this builds a culture within which people can rise to their potential, being empowered and given permission to change the world.

Wisdom

The Spirit of God is the Spirit of Wisdom, given to all who believe in Jesus for salvation. Through the Holy Spirit, we have access to God’s wisdom to address the problems facing the world today from the individual to the international level. We desire to partner with God in bringing solutions that display God’s glory to the nations, leading all people to praise His name.
