About Presence Church

Our Mission & Vision

Presence Church exists to help you experience real life – hearing God’s voice, ministering and receiving ministry from spiritual gifts, removing barriers to connecting with God.

Our mission is to equip all believers to use any and all gifts of the Holy Spirit in a healthy, normal, and powerful way both in and outside of the church.

Nathanael and Amy met in a prayer room and grew together around their common love for Jesus and heart for the nations. Shortly after they married, God spoke to them about laying down their dream of missions to be part of what He’s doing in the Minnesota River Valley region. When they moved to Belle Plaine, it quickly became clear that this was the place for them to plant and see what God would do among them.

There is only one true God who is the eternal King, Creator, and Redeemer of all that is. He is perfectly holy, just, loving, and truthful. He has revealed Himself to be eternally self-existent, one being in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1:1-2; 18:25; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Revelation 4:11

God the Father

God the Father is sometimes referred to as the first person of the Trinity. We know that the true follower of Jesus has been literally adopted by God, the Creator, and He has become our Heavenly Father, even to the point that we call Him “Abba” (Daddy). When we pray to our Father, He will answer, for He loves to give good gifts to His children. He is our pattern for earthly fathers.

Matthew 6:6, 9; John 16:23-28; Romans 8:15; James 1:16-17

Jesus Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ, the one and only begotten Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is God’s Anointed One, empowered by the Holy Spirit to inaugurate God’s kingdom on Earth. He lived a sinless life, was crucified for our sins, died, was buried, resurrected, and ascended into Heaven. Through these things He established mankind’s authority to rule over and subdue the earth, enabling us to expand His kingdom wherever we go. He is alive today at the right hand of God in Heaven and in His people through the Holy Spirit on Earth. He is fully God and fully man.

Isaiah 9:6-7; Matthew 1:22-23; 12:28; John 1:1-5, 14; 12:44-46; 20:28; Acts 4:33; 1 Corinthians 15:3-6; Revelation 1:18

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit indwells and empowers the Christian, enabling each Christ follower to live a holy life and minister supernaturally. The baptism of the Holy Spirit in Acts 1:4-8; 2:4 and the filling of the Holy Spirit in Acts 4:29-31 and Ephesians 5:18 equip believers to be bold witnesses for Christ in both word and deed.

Luke 11:11-13; John 14:16-21; 16:5-15; 20:21-23

Humankind was created in the image of God to know and enjoy Him, and was granted authority to rule over and subdue the whole Earth. Despite this relationship and commission, we willfully rejected the lordship and glory of God for which we were intended. In doing this, we handed authority over Earth to satan, who became god of this world until Jesus restored the created order through His sinless life, death, and resurrection. Sin, sickness, death and judgment entered the world because of our rebellion, and now creation experiences the effects and consequences of the human rebellion. These consequences can only be redeemed by submission to the Kingdom of God.

Genesis 1:26-28; 3:1-24; Romans 3:23; 5:12; 6:23; 8:18-21

The Bible

The Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God.

Joshua 1:8; Psalm 119:9, 11, 105; Proverbs 30:5; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21

We are saved by grace, through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ alone, and not by any of our own good works or deeds. God wants all people to be restored to fellowship with Him through repenting, believing, and receiving Jesus as their Savior and Lord. The Holy Spirit convicts, regenerates, and adopts us so we enter the Kingdom of God as His sons and daughters.

John 1:12; 3:2-8; 16:8; 20:31; Acts 4:12; Romans 8:14-17; Ephesians 2:1-10; 1 Timothy 2:4; 1 Peter 3:18; Titus 3:5-6

The Church

The Church as the body of Christ is made up of all those who have been saved by grace through faith. The Church exists to embody the goodness of God, carrying out the commissions of Jesus by:

  • advancing God’s Kingdom
  • destroying the works of the devil
  • preaching and living the good news of God’s love
  • baptizing and discipling the nations
  • proclaiming Jesus’ death, resurrection, and visible bodily return through the practice of communion

Matthew 16:18-19; 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-18; John 16:18-19; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Ephesians 1:19-23; 3:6-7; 10-11; 4:11-14; 1 John 3:8; Revelation 22:17

Final Things

God’s overall plan is the ever-increasing of His government culminating in the visible return of our Lord Jesus Christ for His glorious bride, His Church, a final judgment, and the separation of the righteous unto eternal reward in Heaven and the lost unto eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire.

Isaiah 9:6-7, Daniel 2:35, 44-45; Matthew 25:31-46; Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 19:7-8, 11-16; 20:14-15

Core Values

God’s Presence

When we simply agree with God that Jesus is the Son of God, He makes His home inside of us, and even more, we make our home inside of Him. When this is true of us and our love is toward God, His presence with us becomes the defining reality of our lives. (1 John 4:15)

Love Ourselves and Others

God’s presence in our lives begins a powerful sequence: Living in His presence causes us to know and believe the love He has for us. Believing that we are loved frees us to love others. (Matthew 22:34-40; 1 John 4:16-21)

Change the World

Loving others changes the world, bringing God’s goodness to those who need it until they believe in Him. Once they believe in Him, it starts the process all over again through them until the whole world is transformed by God’s love. (Romans 2:4; 2 Corinthians 5:13-21)

Key Elements for Living Our Values

God’s Goodness

We unshakably believe that God is good. When Jesus died, He completely satisfied the wrath of God, making full provision for God’s goodness to be demonstrated in power to all mankind. This goodness leads people to change their minds about God, believing in Him and bringing salvation into their lives. This goodness also forms the way we view the world around us and the events that take place within it.

Jesus came to reveal God as His Father and returned to Heaven so we could receive the Spirit of Adoption. Marriage is the image of Jesus’ relationship with His church and family expresses the way God governs Heaven and Earth. We truly believe that a single healthy family can transform the world, so we work to restore and equip families to grow into the potential God has for them.

All In

The Kingdom of God provides equal opportunity for everyone, but the Sunday expression of church cannot contain everything God does in and through His children. Therefore, we work to equip all believers with what they need to express God’s heart and work wherever they go, believing that most Christians’ callings will be fulfilled outside the church building. For this reason, we celebrate the diversity of God’s body in how it is expressed both within our local gathering and outside of it in the workplace.

Every individual is created as a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, called to be royal children of the Most High God with unique identities and callings, each one powerful enough to write history. We refuse to lower our view of any person below this standard, including ourselves, regardless of how they view themselves or how we are viewed by others. We believe this builds a culture within which people can rise to their potential, being empowered and given permission to change the world.

The Spirit of God is the Spirit of Wisdom, given to all who believe in Jesus for salvation. Through the Holy Spirit, we have access to God’s wisdom to address the problems facing the world today from the individual to the international level. We desire to partner with God in bringing solutions that display God’s glory to the nations, leading all men to praise His name.
